SmartCookie’s fee
SmartCookie keeps 0.6% of each payment you receive through Stripe, by card or by Bizum. There’s no other fee per bill.Stripe’s fee
Stripe charges its own fee on each payment. It depends on your country and your student’s card. For example, for a Stripe account in Spain:
Other cards, like cards from outside Europe, can cost more. SmartCookie doesn’t show Stripe’s fee for Bizum. Check the rates for your country and for Bizum on Stripe’s pricing page.
Example with a €240 bill
Your student pays €240 with a European card:
With a UK card, Stripe’s fee is €6.25 and you receive €232.31.
When the money reaches your bank
Each payment goes to your Stripe account first. Then Stripe sends your money to your bank (Stripe calls these transfers payouts) on its own schedule. You don’t have to withdraw it yourself. To see the dates, open your Stripe dashboard:- At the top right, click your profile picture (or your initials).
- In that menu, click Payments (not the Payments page in the left menu).
- Click View your payouts. Your Stripe dashboard opens in a new tab, with your balance and your payouts.
What you can’t do
- You can’t see the transfers to your bank or change their schedule from SmartCookie. Do it in your Stripe dashboard.
- You can’t remove the fee from a Stripe payment. If you don’t want to pay fees, ask students to pay by bank transfer or in cash.
